FREQUENT QUESTIONS
How long have you been a photographer?
11 years! I shot my first wedding at 14 years old.
I have never, except for school pictures, had a photo shoot or photography taken specifically of me. Those kind of situations tend me to make and my fiance feel uncomfortable and awkward. HOw do you normally work with subjects like this to make them feel comfortable?
I’ve got you covered!! Before I even pick up my camera, I just want to hang out with you. Let’s connect on a human-to-human level first. When I think back on my own experiences in front of the camera, I’ve felt most natural and at ease when I’m being photographed by someone with whom I feel a personal connection. I really do mean it when I say that my clients are my friends; I don’t want to simply show up on your wedding day, shake your hand, and hand over a bunch of photos at the end of the day. So this is where the goal of comfort and ease in front of the camera is a team effort: if we take the time to connect first, you will feel significantly more comfy and cozy in front of the lens, and I’ll have a better chance of capturing your true selves.
Do you help direct people while taking their pictures?
The short answer: yes!
The long answer: As a human who values authenticity and openness in image-making, I take a prompts-over-poses approach. This means that I’m not going to micromanage your every move and I’m not going to adjust the angle of your head tilt by 30 degrees every five minutes. Instead, I’ll give you a prompt that will allow for introspection, emotion and connection. This creates natural, candid reactions that increase your ability to be present in the given moment. From there, I give lots of verbal feedback and encouragement and just like that, we make magic together!
Can you photoshop us?
You’re perfect just the way you are. For real! I don’t change the way you look unless you’d like me to remove something temporary that wouldn’t normally be there, like acne, bruises or scrapes (but I’m also happy to leave those in your photos if you prefer!). We’re all about body positivity over here.
Do you help in the planning process?
Yes! I’m more than happy to help! Recommendations, advice, ideas, you name it! Just let me know what you need and I’m there for you!
What do we wear for our photo session?
I have a few style guides for you, not to worry! More than anything else though: wear something you’re comfortable in.
